After my last post, I realized that many of you feel the same way I do about keeping it simple this year with holiday decorating. Today, I thought I’d share a few things that are inspiring my simple plan this year.
I pinned this picture a while back, but have come back to it again and again. I have quite a few holiday decorations for the rest of my house, but not so much for the kitchen, which is funny really, since we spend the majority of our time there. This made it the perfect place to add a few new touches this year. I love the simple garland on the window. Don’t forget to lightly spray your garland every couple of days to keep it fresh throughout the season.
We are so fortunate to have a fireplace in our kitchen and it’s one of my favorite spots. Not sure if my mantle will end up looking exactly like this, but the pop of red with all the natural elements are beautiful. The paper wreath could be a great craft for the kids.
Do you have a tree in your kitchen? I’ve never had one, but this year I’m planning to place a small tree on my island. Maybe rosemary instead of a fir version? You can head over to your local nursery and snag some beautiful small trees of all kinds this time of year. Many people give them as gifts, but why not one for yourself?
Speaking of rosemary, let’s switch gears and move on to simple gift wrapping. Aren’t these gift tags fabulous? I love the idea of putting the rosemary wreath tag on a gift for your favorite foodie.
There are so many things you could wrap this way. A box of notecards, jewelry or even a gift card would be perfect in these little white bags.
For your boxed gifts, how about this clever idea? Make your standard kraft paper more festive with a paper snowflake and twine. You can purchase snowflakes, stars and many other shapes at Michael’s or Joann’s or cut out your own simple version.
And last, but certainly not least, the front door. Take your favorite ribbon and hang a simple wreath. This is a fresh bay leaf wreath, but you could use boxwood, fir, cedar or even a feather version. The idea is that it’s simple and easy to do. That’s my theme for this holiday and I hope that these ideas will help you have a less stressful holiday season as well.
