Hi friends!  I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s.  New Year’s is a bit different around my house.  My parents and my brother’s family come into town and we combine our Christmas and New Year’s celebrations into one.  We have a great time and I get to extend Christmas for one more week.  This year that was a big plus, since the holidays seemed to sneak up on me.  The week after Christmas was very low key and I really enjoyed spending it just hanging out with my family.

Kate and my sweet nephew, Jeremiah

It was so fun to have my nephews here for a couple of days.  Jeremiah is a sweetheart!

Charlotte and my nephew, Noah

Charlotte had a blast hanging out with her teenage cousin!

I did manage to do a bit more decorating before everyone got here.  I wanted to have a special table setting, but I didn’t want to spend a fortune, so I used what I already had around the house.

I took a rosemary plant that I’m planning to use outside, wrapped it in burlap and tied it with a white satin ribbon.  A green table cloth, a few sprigs of rosemary tucked into white napkins and mercury glass votive holders were the final touches.  I love how it turned out.

How about you?  Did you set up a special table for New Year’s Eve?  I’d love to see your photos.  I’ll be back to normal blogging this week with a review of a few of my favorite 2011 projects and my goals for 2012.  I wish you all fabulous New Year’s Day.  We will be eating more food (if that’s possible!) and watching some football in my house.  What will you be doing?

Oh, and I haven’t forgotten about the giveaway!  Traci from Traci Zeller Designs is the winner!  Congrats Traci!!

  1. Happy New Year Lori! Glad you are enjoying all of your time with family – what a fun way to extend the holidays that’s for sure! We just hung out here at our house and made some yummy appetizers. Today we’ll be going to my SIL’s to visit and eat some more and watch football. Your dining room looks so pretty and I love that it’s elegant yet not fussy – I love your chandy too! Looking forward to new adventures in 2012! And congrats to Traci, how fun!

  2. Yay! Thanks so very much, Lori!! Your table turned out beautifully. My family spent New Year’s Eve at the “Family Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Party” — so there was no table to set … just gazillions of children running around like mad!! 😉
