Hello friends, I have to say I’m feeling a bit more sane at the start of this week versus the past few weeks.  The Christmas list is shorter, not finished, but much shorter.  There are some final decorating touches around the house, a whole lot of gift wrapping and Christmas dinner meal planning to be done.  Even though there’s still a lot to do, I’m really feeling the spirit of the season, so it all seems a bit more manageable now.  (Check back with me on Wednesday and see if I’m still sane, but at this point, I’m all good!)

The weekend was good as well.  I spent Saturday installing a home office project.  It’s not completely finished, but I thought I’d share a few pics with you today.  (Yes, you have to read the whole post to get to the exciting part!)

Before

This is the office before.  Nice built ins, but the wall color really did nothing to compliment all of the stained wood in the small space.  So, changing the paint color was the first step.

new paint

What a difference a paint color can make, huh?  I also removed the desk return to open up the space.

Accessorized!!

Here are the built ins with added accessories and storage.  There are still a few changes to come here, but you get the idea.  More later…

Before

One of the biggest changes came on this wall.  Here’s the before shot.

After

And the after.  I’ll apologize right now for the quality of the photo.  It was so sunny outside that it was really difficult to get a good shot.  But, don’t you just love those window treatments?  They make a huge difference in the space, as they always do.  They add texture and the color palette of citrine and gray is one of my favorites right now.

desk top

I added very few items to the desk top, but I wanted to make sure that the items I did add were functional and special to my client.  A treasured photo will be added to the frame, a clock with a traditional feel to balance out the modern desk and the sweet little zebra from my client’s collection.

So, what do you think?  Do you like the changes?  I’ll share more photos soon.  I still have a gallery wall to finish as well as a few more accessories and storage pieces.

Oh, and now for the exciting news.  There will be a Christmas giveaway on Wednesday!!  I know, I know, I almost missed it, but who doesn’t love a gift this time of year and it can be just for you!  So, stay tuned.  I promise you won’t be disappointed. 🙂

  1. Beautiful Lori! I’d be very productive in that office. I love how you styled the shelves and the draperies and roman shades add so much warmth (not to mention the fabulous fabrics that were chosen) – big Kudos! What paint color did you use on the walls? I’m with you – I’m feeling much better than I did last week about being in a good spot leading up to Christmas. I still need to write out my list for our Christmas Eve meals (we’re having Christmas Eve brunch and dinner but a small group so nothing crazy) but still need to get that stuff in order. And a few last minute small items to grab. Good luck and excited for your giveaway!!

  2. Lori,
You do fabulous work! The window treatments and the wall color do so much to warm up that space! And I can tell that your specialty is organizing! Christmas seems a little more manageable right now for me, too. I’m down to making my final list of what needs to be done. Looking forward to seeing what your giveaway will be!

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  4. yay! Lori is looks great! and so funny-I currently have an e-client with built ins in that exact same color and her wall color is that bland-beige too! Its amazing what a little paint will do. And the drapery is just divine!

  5. Wow, Lori! What a transformation, it looks gorgeous and so well organized. I love the paint color your chose against the warm wood and how beautifully you accessorized and organized. I know your client’s are so happy.

  6. Lori, I thought the exciting news was a baby!! Ha! Can’t wait for the giveaway!

I’ll bet they’re thrilled with the office! Such a great job on styling the shelving, and the fabrics you chose are beautiful, a nice sophisticated touch!

  7. love your fabric choice for your panels! Would you mind telling me the fabric name or where you got them? Thanks a ton. I also have a blue gray room I am needing drapes for and the scale of your print and the color is beautiful.
