Okay, I realize a bit of back story is probably needed here. I’ve got a really great friend (you know, the friend that you don’t get to talk to everyday, the one that lives far away, but is always there for you and you for her?). When she calls, all of the sudden it’s 10 years ago, before kids, when we worked too hard and played even harder. You get the idea. I can tell her pretty much anything. So, when she called to talk about starting a blog, I was all in.
A funny thing happened as we were hashing out the definitions of posts, comments and followers. She told me that she reads several blogs, but never comments. I told her that not commenting made her a “lurker”! Fortunately, she didn’t take offense to me calling her a name. But it led us to an interesting conversation about what blogs are really for. What we came up with was that blogging is a way of sharing with your community, your family and your friends. You don’t have to be in the same town or even the same country for that matter. But when you share the same passion as someone else through their blog, it’s a special thing. Commenting is a way to communicate your thoughts and feelings to others. In some ways, it’s similar to having a really great friend that you don’t see or talk to every day, but is always there for you.
I want you all to know how much I appreciate each and every one of your comments. I try so hard to comment back to you all, but when I can’t know that I wanted to. It means the world to me that you would take time out of your day to talk to me and share your thoughts. Babs sent me the photo above after we talked the other day. It makes me feel inspired to do my best for you, my readers, every day. And for all of you “lurkers” (wink, wink) out there, write a comment, send me an email, I’d love to hear what you have to share, too.
